Let me start out by saying that drugstore brands are killing it in the makeup world lately. I remember never finding drugstore foundation that I liked and now there are so many dang options!
The first drugstore foundation I am reviewing is Maybelline’s Fit Me Foundation. Maybelline has 12 shades available, with very little in tones for darker shades. There are only 2 in the darkest shades, which are Coconut and Toffee. The mid range tones have a variety of undertones so I had a few options open to me.
I bought it in the shade Sun Beige and I have to say I was pleasantly suprised. The undertones are hard to figure out because a lot of the colours tend to look the same in the package. And there aren’t any guides while shopping that tell you which shades have which undertones. When looking online it also does not tell you which shades work for which undertones.
Price wise, its very affordable at $7.00- $10.00 depending on where you purchase it. I found it at my local Wal-Mart for $7.99.
It performs well. I found it to last all day while running errands and held up okay during my occasional bouts of tears. (Watching Community and going to a Wedding) To be fair, I cry a lot and I’m sure most people dont cry as often as I do. It didn’t look too cakey and performs well on camera.
Application can be tricky. I first applied it directly to my face and because its made to adjust to your skin it warms up and takes some time to settle. After that I started by putting the foundation on my hand first and then applying it to my face, which really helped it perform a lot better.
All in all for a drugstore foundation I would say this is a great purchase. Its affordable the finish is great and it lasts all day. Definitely one of my favourite purchases so far.
